Life
Things are really rolling now. Erin and I received notification on Thursday afternoon that our rental application was accepted at Stony Creek. I dropped of the holding fee and our move in date is June 1st. It's pretty cool. We received a letter and it says "your new address will be: 1083-8 Stowell Dr., Rochester, NY 14616." Very, very cool!
Our invitations came in yesterday. Seeing them and reading them over is really beginning to make the whole "thing" of getting married very real. It's quite amazing to me that in a couple of months I'll have my own place and a couple of months after that I'll be married.
We also purchased our wedding gifts to each other today. I know that it's odd that we know what we're giving each other for the wedding, but we wanted to make sure that we got something that the other wanted. I don't think that knowing what we got for each other makes it any less meaningful.
Work is going well and I'm getting to take on more responsibility. It's becoming a lot more than just taking calls. Believe me when I say that it is a good thing. Just taking calls gets old really quickly. The only downside to the whole situation is that Erin and I aren't getting to spend as much time together as we'd like and I haven't really been able to go to the movies lately. I'm kind of itching to see Daredevil and Spirited Away. One good thing is that I've been reading a lot more as of late. My most recent fixation is with Elmore Leonard's Rum Punch. I'm almost finished with it and then I'll be moving on to Ubik by Philip K. Dick. I'll be sure to let you know what I think when I'm done.
On another note...
Okay...I know that you all must be surprised that I've haven't launched into any tirades regarding the war in Iraq. The fact of the matter is this, we are there, the war has begun, there is no turning back and no amount of protesting is going to change that. We need to stand together and make sure that the government does everything they can to bring this horrible event to a swift resolution and gets our troops home. I don't agree with the circumstances under which the conflict was started, but I will concede that some sort of armed conflict was inevitable as I do not believe that Saddam Hussein would have ever walked away peacefully and there is no doubt that he does need to go. We need to ask ourselves one thing. Are we prepared to attack every country that we perceive as even a remote threat? I think not...and if we want to send a clear message to Bush, next year we will do the democratic thing and voice our opinion with our votes.
